Step 1

Decide the Chat Show Host

It's more fun if this is one of the kids! Let them decide the questions and host the show. If you're feeling really silly the host and guests could pretend to be completely different people, with new names, characters and costumes if you like!

Step 2

Write the questions

What kind of questions will you ask to get the amazing funny and embarrassing stories? Do you want the same questions for each person, or maybe different ones? Try these questions to get you started

Step 3

Set the stage

Will this be an after dinner table game, or will you really go for it and set the room up like a real chat show? Think about some props that might come in handy, like a hairbrush for a microphone. Maybe even come up with a name and make a sign.

how to play

1
Start the show
What's your show called? Is there a theme? Announce the guests. Maybe even play some music! Try recording the whole thing to send to relatives.
2
Interview your guests
Got your questions ready? Just start interviewing your guests. If you want to dig a bit deeper, a good question to ask is 'Why?' Don't forget to make a note of any funny stories (these might come in handy later)

3
Share your show
Share your funny questions, photos and videos in the Family Games Challenge Facebook group The funniest ones get added to this page!

Some tips

  • If you're pretending to be different characters, you could use famous people in history and make it educational.
  • Try asking each guest to bring a favourite object with them so they can tell you why they love it so much.
  • Try a sheet over the doorway for guests to walk through at the start of the show. How about playing some music too?
  • Try recording the show on your phone to capture the funny stories and send to relatives.
  • Maybe even try playing this game over a video call with friends or family living in other places.
